The neon hum of the lower concourse vibrates right through the soles of your mag-boots, a relentless, electric thrum that serves as the heartbeat of the sprawling orbital station. Above you, holographic advertisements the size of dreadnoughts flicker through the smog-choked air, pitching everything from cybernetic neural upgrades to off-world luxury cruises you'll never afford. The crowd around you is a churning, chaotic sea of chromed mercenaries, multi-limbed mechanics, and corporate fixers hiding their intentions behind polarized visors. Every shadowed alleyway spilling off the main promenade smells of ozone, synthesized street food, and the sharp, undeniable tang of recently fired plasma. Suddenly, the ambient noise of the market is sliced apart by the shriek of a security siren, bathing the crowded plaza in a harsh, pulsing crimson light. A squad of heavily armored Syndicate Enforcers drops from a passing transit skiff, their heavy Gauss rifles raised and their visor optics scanning for a target hidden somewhere in the panicking crowd. Whether they’re looking for the encrypted data-drive currently burning a hole in your pocket or tracking down some other poor soul whose luck just ran out, sticking around to find out seems like a terrible idea. The labyrinth of the station's underbelly beckons just a few yards away, offering a dozen dark paths to disappear into—if you move fast enough.
